 Clonazepam
( 2 customer reviews)

Clonazepam

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine also sold under the brand name Klonopin. It was first developed and patented back in 1960 and is now available as a generic medication. Generic versions have exactly the same active ingredient as the branded versions, so will have the same desired results. It is a widely used medication with millions of prescriptions issued each year. Clonazepam tablets are used so extensively because they are highly effective for a range of disorders.

Benzodiazepines are usually only available with a prescription from your doctor. They have been approved by regulators across the world and are used in many countries, however, as they have habit forming properties, they are a Class C controlled substance. If you are struggling to get a prescription, however, it is possible to buy clonazepam online.

What is Clonazepam Used for?

Clonazepam 2 mg has a wide variety of uses including anxiety, insomnia, some forms of epilepsy, and akathisia (restless legs syndrome). People use clonazepam for anxiety disorders, and this is the most common use for this medication. There are different types of anxiety which we will go into more detail about now. Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterised by the following symptoms:

  • Not being able to stop worrying about many different things
  • Feeling like something awful is going to happen
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Insomnia
  • Dizziness

Social anxiety is a chronic mental health condition which manifests as an intense and enduring phobia of social situations. This can be particularly debilitating as it can impact many parts of your life, including socialising with friends and being part of a team at work. It can even affect people to the extent that they are afraid to be around people that they don't know, for example at a supermarket or on public transport. People also use clonazepam for sleep problems such as insomnia.

There are different types of insomnia including sleep-onset insomnia and sleep-maintenance insomnia. Sleep-onset insomnia means you have difficulty drifting off to sleep and sleep-maintenance insomnia is characterised by the inability to stay asleep throughout the night or waking up too early. Although it is licenced and you can use clonazepam for the treatment of seizures, all types of epilepsy should be managed by a specialist neurologist.

How Clonazepam Works

Clonazepam 2 mg is a benzodiazepine and has a similar mechanism of action to others that belong to this class of medication. Gamma amino-butyric acid (GABA) is the primary neuronal receptors for the chemicals in the medication. Neurons are cells in the brain which transmit electrical signals and are part of the central nervous system. They communicate via synapses which are microscopic gaps between each cell.

After clonazepam has been ingested it crosses the blood brain barrier and binds to GABA receptors situated at the neuronal synapse, resulting in the secretion of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA. Neurotransmitters are chemicals which can either be inhibitory (reduce electrical activity) or excitatory (increase electrical activity). The neuronal cell membranes have chloride channels, which let chloride ions (charged chemicals) in and out, and when GABA is secreted, it causes chloride ions to be conducted through the channels.

Neurons have an electrical charge and when the chloride ions enter the cell, it alters the neuronal voltage. This makes it less likely for excitatory signals, called action potentials, to be fired. This reduction in action potential firing results in relaxation and sedation by reducing the amount of electrical activity in the brain.

How Long Clonazepam Lasts

Clonazepam 2 mg is an anti-anxiety medication which is rapidly absorbed via the gastrointestinal (GI) tract when taken orally and enters the cardiovascular system and crosses the blood brain barrier, where is exerts its anxiolytic effects. It has a bioavailability of 90% which means that only 10% is lost as it travels from the GI tract to the neurons in the brain. The clonazepam half-life is between 18 and 60 hours and this varies depending on factors such as your metabolism and body mass index (BMI).

The elimination half-life refers to the amount of time it takes for half of the medication to be eliminated from the body. This means it can still be detected in your system for much longer than this. The duration of action (how long you will feel the effects of clonazepam tablets) is between 6 and 12 hours, and again, this will vary from person to person due to the factors mentioned earlier as well as your clonazepam dosage.

As it has quite a long duration of action and elimination half-life, it is important that before you buy clonazepam you are aware that you should not drive or use machinery while using it, or the following day, even if you do not feel drowsy. This is because it will still be in your system and can delay your reaction time which could lead to an accident on the road or at work. People do use clonazepam because of the duration of action, however, and the longer elimination half-life can be a positive if you need to feel the effects all day.

Clonazepam Dosage for Anxiety

Clonazepam dosage for anxiety can be started at 1 mg and increased to a maximum of 8 mg, however, this would need to be divided into multiple doses, spread throughout the day. If you are taking it for GAD then you should take your first dose when you get up and re-dose throughout the day as and when necessary. The exact schedule will depend on the severity of your condition and how it manifests.

If you suffer from panic disorder for example, then you should take clonazepam 2 mg as soon as your symptoms start or before you are going into a situation that you know will trigger a panic attack. Similarly, if you suffer from social anxiety then you should take it about an hour before you are entering a social situation that gives you anxiety. Clonazepam dosage for sleep will usually be 1 mg or 2 mg, which should be swallowed whole with a glass of water about an hour before you want to go to sleep.

Clonazepam Side Effects

You can buy benzodiazepines without the need for a prescription, which makes them easily available. Although people commonly use clonazepam for the management of their symptoms, you should be aware of any potential side effects. Most people do not experience any, and for those that do they are usually mild and go away on their own.

Some of the more common clonazepam side effects include the following:

  • Feeling drowsy the following day
  • Feeling dizzy
  • Feeling weak
  • Intense or vivid dreams

You do not need to stop taking the medication if you experience any of the above side effects, however if they do not go away or they are particularly bothersome then you should seek advice from your doctor. Some people experience serious side effects; however, they affect less than 1 in 100 people.

You should stop taking the medication straight away and contact your clinician if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Yellowing of the eyes and face (jaundice)
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Believing things that aren't true (delusions)
  • Severe mood swings
  • Not being able to remember things (amnesia)
  • Trouble coordinating your movements

This is not an exhaustive list, so if you are worried about any of the side effects that you experience, then you should contact a health professional for advice. Some people also experience an allergic reaction called anaphylaxis; however, this is extremely rare. Also known as anaphylactic shock, symptoms include a rash on the neck and face, swelling of the face and lips, and difficulty breathing.

If you experience this, you should go to hospital immediately as anaphylaxis is a life-threatening emergency. Luckily, as we said, this is extremely rare, and more is commonly a reaction to the antibiotic penicillin.

Is Clonazepam Safe for Long Term Use?

People commonly use clonazepam for the management of their anxiety or insomnia, however, it should ideally be a short-term treatment option. As clonazepam can be habit forming, it should not be taken for more than 3 days per week, and you should try to space the days out evenly. The longer you take it the higher your tolerance will become, which means you will either not benefit from the medication anymore or you will need to take a higher dose to achieve the desired results.

You should not take it for longer than 4 weeks if possible, to avoid physical dependence on the medication. If you have taken it for longer than 4 weeks and stop taking it abruptly, this can cause clonazepam withdrawal symptoms, rebound insomnia, and the return of your anxiety symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms include:

  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Fever or chills
  • Muscle spasms
  • Insomnia

To avoid withdrawals or lessen the severity, you should taper off your dose by gradually reducing it over 2 to 4 weeks. Some people, however, will need to take medication long-term for chronic conditions. If you need to manage your symptoms on a long-term basis then you can buy clonazepam online from our online pharmacy with home delivery.

Clonazepam vs Lorazepam

Both medications are benzodiazepines which means they belong to the same class of medication and will have a similar mechanism of action. Although they work in a similar way and have similar effects, lorazepam begins to work more rapidly but has a shorter duration of action and elimination-half life. This can be useful for panic attacks as it takes effect so quickly. It can also be beneficial if you need to drive or be alert the following day due to the shorter elimination half-life.

Many people with GAD and insomnia prefer to buy clonazepam 2 mg however, due to the longer duration of action. If you suffer from GAD it is beneficial to maintain a consistent level of medication in your system. Either medication will help you get to sleep, but clonazepam tablets are the better option for sleep-maintenance insomnia, as they will help you stay asleep throughout the night.

Before You Buy Clonazepam Online

Before you buy anxiety medication such as clonazepam, you should be aware of any contraindications and consider whether there are more suitable options for you. You should consult with your healthcare provider before taking this medication if any of the following applies to you:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients listed in the medication
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have been treated for addiction in the past
  • You have a muscle weakness disease called myasthenia gravis
  • You have breathing problems such as sleep apnoea

This list is not exhaustive and if you are not sure if any of the above applies to you then you should arrange a consultation with your doctor to discuss your options. Many health professionals advocate holistic management techniques alongside the use of medication. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is useful for lots of different types of anxiety as it can help change the way you think about things.

Buy Clonazepam

If you are suffering from anxiety or insomnia, you can make an appointment with your physician and ask for a referral to your local mental health team or a specialist sleep clinic. We understand that not everyone is able to do this, however, so we have made it possible to buy clonazepam without the need for a prescription. Anxiety and insomnia can be debilitating disorders and severely impact your quality of life and ability to function. Referrals can take weeks or even months in some parts of the country and this is unacceptable if you need urgent treatment.

Mental health disorders shouldn't have to define your life and dictate what you can and can't do, and you have the power to take control and make a change. We fully advocate having the freedom to buy medications which will help you to manage your symptoms. Visit www.stretta-therapy.com for a range of affordable anti-anxiety and insomnia medications.
